Cisco Fixes Seven Critical Security Bugs

Cisco Systems issued seven security updates yesterday, all of which patched vulnerabilities in the networking giant’s internetwork operating system (IOS), the software it deploys on the majority of its routers and network switches.

The Government Accountability Office has determined that the Federal Communications Commission failed to properly implement necessary security controls in the initial phases of its Enhanced Secured Networks project, and, as a result, FCC data remains vulnerable to “unnecessary risk of inadvertent or deliberate misuse, improper disclosure, or destruction.”

The Pentagon is compiling a list of offensive cyber-weapons capable of deliberately crippling or destroying an adversary’s critical infrastructure according to a recent report in the Washington Post.This collection of cyber weapons is part of a broader list of weapons approved by the Pentagon for use against America’s enemies.
