In the latest edition of “open positions that should have been filled three years ago,” Apple Computer is looking to hire a Product Security Manager, the New York Times is reporting.
The company advertised the new “Manager, Product Security” position on its Web site, saying that the candidate will be responsible for “overseeing the protection of, and managing risks to, Apple’s unreleased products and related intellectual property.”
Apple has struggled in the last week to stem the controversy after a prototype of its new iPhone 5 was reportedly left behind in a Bay Area bar by a company employee. A minor controversy erupted when it was revealed that local police accompanied Apple corporate security officials in a search of a private residence to retrieve the prototype, SF Weekly has reported. A nearly identical incident occurred prior to the launch of the iPhone 4.
According to Apple, the ideal candidate for the new position will have the ability to “assess the physical and logical security implementations” and make “actionable risk management recommendations that consider impact on corporate culture, business operations, system architectures, manufacturing processes, and employee workflows.” Whatever that means!
