Federal agents on Monday raided the Melrose, Massachusetts home of a missile systems expert who formerly worked at U.S. defense
contractor Raytheon. Several boxes of items were taken by FBI and Immigration
and Customs Enforcement agents from the home, which is owned by Richard M. Lloyd.
According to published reports, Lloyd had earlier been stopped while trying to board a
flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City. Lloyd was
still in possession of a laptop from Raytheon he wasn’t allowed to have.
A spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney’s Office, Christina DiIorio Sterling, on Tuesday declined to discuss Monday’s seizure
in depth, telling Threatpost “there’s no immediate threat to the public.”
An author’s listing on Amazon cites Lloyd as the one-time
manager for the Warhead Lethality Group at Raytheon’s Electronic Systems
Division and the author of the 2001 book “Physics of Direct Hit and Near Miss
Warhead Technology.”
