Paul Judge, chief research officer at Barracuda Networks shared results from a five month study the company conducted in which they analyzed over 3,000 fake Facebook profiles. Barracuda used a tool they created to scour Facebook and detect fake accounts and the mounting risk they can draw.  “It’s a very profitable venture,” Judge said at one point in his talk, discussing several of the “affiliate scams” that’ll pop up (for free Starbucks giftcards and such) from time to time.
