In typical fashion, all of five minutes had passed after the iPhone 4 release when Mac’s quasi-religious fan base kick-started the iPhone 5 rumor-mill. Fast-forward to now: Apple recently announced they’d be talking iPhone today at a 1 p.m. press conference. Naturally, the general consensus has been that Apple would draw back their legendary veil of secrecy and reveal to its people the mythic iPhone 5. As it turns out, and much to the dismay of Mac-lovers the world-around, Apple may be merely announcing the release of an upgraded version of the iPhone 4, but only time will tell. Either way, we decided to take a look at the history of what is arguably the most important, yet least sexy aspect of the iPhone: security.
