Adobe on Tuesday will release the patches for the critical authplay.dll vulnerability in Reader and Acrobat that was disclosed earlier this month. The company already has issued a patch for the same flaw in Flash.

The patches for Adobe Reader and Acrobat are being pushed out two weeks ahead of the company’s normal quarterly patch schedule because of the severity of the flaw and the fact that there are active attacks against it going on already. The patches will be released for Mac, Unix and Windows on June 29.

The vulnerability in Flash, Reader and Acrobat was rated critical by Adobe and has been known publicly since early June. The flaw can cause the affected application to crash or enable an attacker to gain control of a vulnerable machine.
