Apple released security updates yesterday that fix various vulnerabilities in Mac OS X and the Safari browser.

According to a report written by Gregg Keizer on IT World, the patches resolve four security vulnerabilities and block outdated versions of Adobe Flash Player. Keizer notes that these are the same vulnerabilities patched in iOS 5.1.1 on Tuesday.

On their support site, Apple lists all the bugs as WebKit vulnerabilities.

The U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team warns that “exploitation of these vulnerabilities may allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code, obtain sensitive information, operate with elevated privileges, cause a denial-of-service condition, or perform a cross-site scripting attack.”

Affected products include: Safari 5.1.7 for Mac OS X v10.6.8, Mac OS X Server v10.6.8, OS X Lion Server v10.7.4, OS X Lion v10.7.4, Windows 7, Vista, XP SP2 or later.

OS X Lion v10.7.4 and Security Update 2012-002 updates affects OS X Lion v10.7 to v10.7.3, OS X Lion Server v10.7 to v10.7.3, Mac OS X v10.6.8, Mac OS X Server v10.6.8.

US-CERT advises that administrators read over the security bulletins and take appropriate action.
