The Internet hacker collective Anonymous claims to have breached the security of NATO’s computer network and made off with roughly a gigabyte of “restricted material,” according to a message posted from a Twitter account belonging to the group.

In a test designed to analyze various Web browsers’ abilities to protect European users against socially engineered malware attacks, researchers at NSS Labs determined that Internet Explorer 8 and 9 were significantly more effective at curbing malicious downloads than were the other major browsers.

Agents of the FBI raided three homes in New York on Tuesday and seized computers believed to be involved in recent attacks by the Anonymous hacking group. 

A collective of hackers known as SwagSec claims to have broken into the UK website of Lady Gaga and made off with information on thousands of registered fans, according to a report from the UK’s Mirror.

As much as everyone loves a good getting away with murder, “If I Did It” type story, the leaked video spreading virally on Facebook right now, which purports to be of Casey Anthony confessing to a lawyer, is a fake, according to a report from Sophos Labs.
